Payments may be turned in at the front desk, paid online through the student portal or mailed to the Spotlight, 685 Harcourt Rd., Mt. Vernon, OH 43050. You may also set your account up to have your tuition automatically taken out on the 5th of the month. Stop by the front desk to set up your auto payment if interested.

Parent Observation

Mark your calendars now! Parent Observation Week is November 1-7. Everyone is working hard on new steps to show you during this week. Because we have Marley floors, parents will be asked to remove their shoes before entering the dance rooms. Thank you for your cooperation and help in keeping our facility in wonderful condition for our students!

Important Reminder: Dance Shoes are ONLY for Dance Class & Label Your Items

As you may have noticed, The Spotlight has Marley dance floors in each dance studio. These floors are high quality, so we ask that you please respect our property and do NOT allow children to wear their dance shoes to and from class or outside at all. This ruins the shoes and in turn damages our floors. We want the best for our students and hope that you will help us keep our floors in great condition.

Just a quick reminder to please label all dance shoes and apparel. All pink ballet slippers and black tap shoes tend to look alike. Place an address label inside your dancer’s shoes or use white tape inside the shoes with the child’s name on them. This helps the teachers at the Spotlight make sure everyone is going home with the correct shoes. If you have left something at dance be sure to check the black box in the lobby.

Attention Parents of Gymnastics Students

Any Spotlight student who is enrolled in gymnastics must have their hair pulled back for class each week. Students cannot see when their hair is in their face and they are upside down. For the safety of your child please have hair pulled back before class each week. Also, it is highly recommended that students wear leotards for gymnastics class. Loose fitting shirts make it hard for teachers to effectively spot students and students cannot concentrate on their skills when loose fitting clothing gets in the way. The Spotlight offers gymnastics leotards if you need to purchase one for your student. No jewelry is to be worn during gymnastics class either, please leave valuable items at home.

The Spotlight has added additional parking in the back lot. Please do not park beside the building, this area is needed for vehicles to get in and out of our back lot easily. The church next door has also opened the fence in the back if the back lot if full you are welcome to park in their lot. We also ask that when parking out front that your vehicle does not block the handicap ramp. Thank you!

Spotlight Handbook

Please pick up a Spotlight handbook in the lobby if you did not receive one at registration time. This handbook is very important and can answer many questions you may have. The tuition breakdown is located in the center of the handbook, along with dress code for each dance class and class descriptions. Also located on the back page is the calendar for the year with listed parent observation dates, holiday breaks, special performances, etc.

2018 Recital DVDs & Recital Tags

Attention Spotlight students who participated in the 2018 Recital, the DVDs and tags are available at the front desk. If you ordered one please stop by and pick yours up as soon as possible. Thank you!

The shows are free, and no tickets are required.

Pictures are not mandatory for your dancer or gymnast.

Please Report Your Child’s Absence

Please respect your child’s teacher and if they will be missing class for any reason please call the studio at 393-2623, or email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to let them know your child will not be attending.

Recital Tips - Dress Rehearsals

We know many of you have questions about the upcoming recital so we will continue to give you tips and information along the way. The recital is a very busy, but exciting time for everyone. Soon the Spotlight will announce which classes will be performing in the Friday 7:30, Saturday 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. shows. This will be indicated in the costume books in the lobbies. Your child’s class will also then receive a dress rehearsal time. Dress rehearsals will be held at the Memorial Theater the week before the show. Every class will be assigned

a day and time to practice on stage in full costume and make-up. Each class will have a 10 minute on-stage rehearsal so it is VERY important that you mark this day and time down and arrive early, if you are late and miss your rehearsal your child is going to miss their opportunity to practice on stage. We cannot stress enough how important it is to be on time and ready to go on stage during their scheduled time. Dress rehearsal is mandatory, your child is not permitted to perform in the show if they miss their rehearsal.
