The Spotlight Foote Notes

Costume Deposits Due in November
Attention all parents, every child participating in the spring recital must pay a $35 costume deposit per class. This payment is due by Nov. 10th. Costumes will be ordered in December and if your child’s costume deposit is not paid their costume will not get ordered. Please make note of this deadline and plan to make your payment at the front desk or online by Nov. 10th. Thank you. Costume ordering is a big undertaking and we appreciate everyone’s timeliness in this matter.

**Note to auto payment customers: Your student’s costume deposit will not be charged on the 5th of November unless you specifically ask the Spotlight to do so. Please email, call or stop by the front desk if you would like your costume deposit to be taken out on the 5th as well as your monthly tuition. Thank you.

The Spotlight’s Giving Tree
Again this year The Spotlight will have the ‘Giving Tree’ in the lobby starting in December. All dancers and gymnasts are invited to help decorate the trees with new hats and mittens for children in need. We hope you will share your holiday spirit and help us help those in need in our local community. Raffle to Raise Money for Food for the Hungry The Spotlight will be raffling off an American Girl doll again this holiday to raise money for Food for the Hungry. There will also be a raffle for a new Spotlight dance bag filled with goodies every dancer/gymnast would want, including iTunes gift card, lotions, socks, etc. Stop by the front desk later in November to check it out! Tickets will be available at the front desk starting in mid-November. The drawing will take place before Christmas so don’t miss this chance to donate to a good cause and for a chance to win a great gift for your child!

Student Behavior in the Lobby
Parents, please remember that it is your responsibility to watch your child while waiting before and after class. There is to be NO gymnastics in the lobby, it is too busy and there are no mats. While we don’t mind if students snack while waiting for class, please make sure things get thrown away to keep the lobby clean. The Spotlight staff is not responsible for your child in the lobby, only in the classroom. Please talk to your child about appropriate behavior in the lobby while waiting for class to start. We greatly appreciate this!

Recital Tips - Dress Rehearsals

We know many of you have questions about the upcoming recital so we will continue to give you tips and information along the way. The recital is a very busy, but exciting time for everyone. Soon the Spotlight will announce which classes will be performing in the Friday 7:30, Saturday 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. shows. This will be indicated in the costume books in the lobbies. Your child’s class will also then receive a dress rehearsal time. Dress rehearsals will be held at the Memorial Theater the week before the show. Every class will be assigned

a day and time to practice on stage in full costume and make-up. Each class will have a 10 minute on-stage rehearsal so it is VERY important that you mark this day and time down and arrive early, if you are late and miss your rehearsal your child is going to miss their opportunity to practice on stage. We cannot stress enough how important it is to be on time and ready to go on stage during their scheduled time. Dress rehearsal is mandatory, your child is not permitted to perform in the show if they miss their rehearsal.

The Spotlight Closing Due to Inclement Weather

Snowflakes will be falling this winter, we would like to remind everyone of The Spotlight’s cancellation policy. If the studio must close due to inclement weather there will be a recording on the voicemail as well as posted on the website at www.thespotlightcenter.com. Just because schools are closed does not mean The Spotlight will be closed, so please check on days that the weather is questionable. The Spotlight staff will attempt to post any closing by 1 p.m.

Reminder: Class Cancellation Policy

There may be times that we must cancel classes due to weather, our policy provides one ‘cushion day” for each day of the week. This means that each day of the week could have one cancelled day of classes without requiring a makeup lesson. If a certain day’s classes are cancelled more than once, a makeup class will be scheduled.
